If he was wild before you got him, it would be most beneficial to return him to outside. Other than that, they eat bugs. But, you'll have to provide an environment of grass and such as they like to hide in it. You'll also have to let him have a place to fly. So, no ceiling fans, etc.

You should pray with it, make it feel welcome ;-), I'm joking I didn't even know you could get a praying mantis as a pet!!
