Should I settle this with this girl?

Me and this girl stopped talking a while back and now she has a bf. supposedly he is a complete douche to her and just hearing about this bothers me. But we have mutual friends and they have told me that she doesn't come around anymore because she thinks I hate her but that is not true at all. I would love to be friends with her if anything. I was considering shooting her a text saying that I don't hate her and I wish we could be friends. Is this a good idea? I'm just tired of it being awkward everytime she comes around
