Are there any screenplay writers or any companies that take in scripts?

Writers? No. Writers write their own material or rewriting other people's material when they're hired by a production company. If by companies you mean studios, then only indie ones or small ones that accept unsolicited material. This is a closed market. You need an agent if you want to appoach anything big or serious.
