good healthy foods? and how to eat healthier?(salad)?
I'm a 14 year old male and I've been thinking lately about how I eat and its really not all that great. I drink soda like its water and never really anything else. (I have about 1L of chocolate milk a day at school). I'm pretty picky about my food, I don't like any fish, I'm not an onion guy, and I usually pick peppers off of my pizza (although I can eat them I just prefer them not there). I eat what my parents make for dinner like any chicken, pork chops, steak, spaghetti ect ect. I don't smoke cigarettes or anything crazy like that and I just want to be healthier. I don't eat cupcakes or chips everyday but I probably have chips and stuff a little too often. I figured I only get one go at life so I want to be healthy. So what are some good foods? I've heard about that naturebox .com thing and that seems pretty cool so i might try that out. I like lots of raw vegetables like broccoli, carrots, cauliflower and thoser other things you can get in those vegtable trays/rings. Are those healthy? I also love salad. I like ceased salads your basic lettuce, ceaser sauce and crutons but I wanna try more healthy ones. What are some good salad recipes with chicken and stuff? I don't really want ones with 100 different ingredient, just basic 4-5 ingredient HEALTHY salads. So basically, what are some really basic, common HEALTHY foods that are eatable? I also like fruit. Not just snacks but salads and dinner meals too. Also any tips on how to keep to it? I need any healthy eating tips. Thx

I see that you have great tips and very useful things and you should consider every one of them. I would only suggest if you can't drink water every time you crave for soda, you can make smoothie! Yes, you said that you like fruit, so why don't you drink smoothies instead the soda, or try instead the chocolate milk. Trust me, you'll feel better. It's not hard to make, just some fruits in a juicer or blender... and you have healthy, fresh juice! http://juicerecipes.com/recipes/ - here you can find some simple 3-4 ingredients recipes!
And if you like fruit salad, you can easily make it at home, it will take you 5 minutes and you'll be happy and healthy too. Try some of these :

Try hummus with your raw vegetables: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/extra-easy-hummus/ and substitute a low fat bread or vegetable and hummus for your chips. And yes, virtually any fresh vegetable is going to be healthy. (Hummus recipe I like better:
http://www.inspiredtaste.net/15938/easy-and-smooth... -- tahini is ground sesame seeds)
Take it a step at a time in making your dietary changes... drop the soda as much as you can; substitute water, lemonade, low fat milk for much healthier choices (fruit juices are less healthy than adding some fresh fruit to your diet.) Those are three things you can do without changing the main dishes or upsetting the regular mealtimes. (And who knows, you might be able to change a few of the less healthy main dishes in a few weeks or month.)
May I suggest trying some new recipes, too? http://www.cookinglight.com/food/quick-healthy/5-i...
You're old enough to take over some or most of the cooking, which is also a good way to control what's going onto your plate... and help your parents be healthier, too. And you can experiment with substituting something you like in a recipe, instead of an ingredient you dislike.
May I also introduce you to this website: http://www.cdc.gov/nutrition/everyone/fruitsvegeta... and http://www.myfoodrecord.com/mainnat.html -- put in the foods you're eating a day, and it will suggest foods that will help complete your good nutrition for the day.

Visit these Center for Disease Control site locations and you can educate yourself on what fruits and vegetables you can eat and how much (depending on how much you exercise - more exercise = more fruits and vegetables needed in your diet). I use this resource and I also drink 1 coffee mug of green tea per day (sometimes 2) for the antioxidant cancer protection. 30 min. of exercise per day 5 times a week at the minimum (more is not necessary unless you want to do more) is important too. 1 hr. of exercise 5 times a week is necessary for young adults (18-24). Since you are 14 you are no exception from the "young adult exercise requirement." But 30 min. is fine.
EDIT: Regular metabolism from eating all other foods (be it pizza or whatever) and exercising produce oxidants that need to quenched with antioxidants (found in fruits and veggies). Hence the: "more exercise requires more fruits and veggies in the diet"
