Photoshop Elements 8 won't open photos or allow any editing, why?
It was working fine, like normal, and I had afk-ed (left) my computer for an hour or so to go do something. When I came back I noticed it being weird when I made a text box. I was able to type but if I moved it around it would just skip back to where it was originally. So I decided to relaunch it maybe thinking leaving it open for too long did something. After I re-started it, it wouldn't let me open any photos, nothing happens when I try to. I searched around and found to ctrl+alt+shift click the editor option and delete setting saved files, and that worked to open the first photo. But after that no other photos would open and I also wasn't able to edit the photo I did open. Anything I tried to do wouldn't happen, such as when I clicked to rotate the photo. I was able to lay down a text box but had the same thing happen where I couldn't move it around and all other tools did nothing.
I'm running it on Windows 8 by the way.

Restart your computer and see if that clears the bugs out of the program. Just sitting open shouldn't cause the program to run differently - unless your house is haunted by photo editing ghosts :-).
Whenever I have to leave the computer for a while, I save my work and usually close but sometimes minimize the program I'm working in.
You can reset Elements but resetting it will wipe out any plugins, brushes - any extras you've added to the program. To reset: with the program closed hold down Shift+CTRL+ALT and launch the program like you normally do. KEEP HOLDING THE KEYS DOWN until a pop up appears and asks if you want to delete and rebuild the (preferences) file. Release the keys and click OK on the message - and go do something else for a few minutes while Elements loads. (I'm not sure if this is what you did already.)
If resetting the program doesn't solve your problem, uninstalling and reinstalling is the only option left. Be sure to deactivate the program (Help>Deactivate) if it's an option for Elements 8. (I have PSE 6 and 9. Deactivation isn't necessary with v6 but it's mandatory with v9.)

Hello everyone, I would like to share also my superb buying experience with www.oggus.com. Recently I had to upgrade my OS from Vista to 7 to my old computer and decided to buy the windows 7 ultimate from them. At first I was not sure if I'm doing the righ thing as I had some bad experiences buying keys to sellers in bh forums. Then after reading for some reviews online about this website, I decided to give it a go. After a couple of hours of patiently waiting, the key was sent to my email along with the link to a downloadable installer. But since I already have a clean install of the OS, I just registered the key and boom... the registration went successful without a hiccup. If you happen to have some questions also, don't hesitate to ask their support cause they're very helpful with all your concerns. I would recommend this website, www.oggus.com 10 out of 10 to all your windows programs. :)

Here is a link to a discussion about the same problem you have with Elements.

I hope that you can find a solution, but if you can't, then you should uninstall the program and then install it again.
