air national guard transfer states?
I am looking to join the Kansas ANG but currently have a girlfriend who is leaving for Navy basic training in a couple weeks and will have training for almost a year my question is how easy is it to transfer air national guard units so that I can be closer to her. I know its possible to transfer but is there any hidden requirements such as rank or time in ? Also do you think marital status would by-pass any of these requirements

This really will depend on a number of things. The gaining unit may or may not have a slot for your MOS so that is the first hurdle. Then your rank may be lesser or greater than what that slot allows and might not be vacant. That unit commander can still take you and carry you as an overage for up to a year if he/she wants to and is willing to absorb the additional cost of that into their unit budget. After a year though this situation becomes a difficult one to justify and maintain and you will usually find yourself either having to cross-train or maybe going inactive until a slot opens up and you can be gained into a unit.
The other important part to this is your current unit has to be willing to release you and approve this. Some unit commanders may not for a variety of reasons; one being they have invested time and money in you and then losing you means they then have to get a new person and repeat that, costing them additional funds from their budget.
There are a couple of other approaches you can take with this and you might want to take a look at the IMA program or a Category B status. That is where you report directly to an active duty unit and perform your one weekend per month and two weeks per year for no pay but you do retain your benefits that carrying a ID card bring and your time does count towards time in the service and time in grade as well as time towards retirement. While financially this is not the ideal thing I have seen a person go this route temporarily because they were in an overage for over a year or because they could not find a Guard or Reserve unit with an opening but were able to find an IMA or Cat B slot with the active duty.

In order to change units, you would have to find a unit at the new location with an open slot for your job and rank. Then, you would need permission from your current command to release you to that unit, and then you would need the new unit's commander to agree to allow you into the unit. If either commander says no, or if there i no open slot, then you can't do it. Marital status has nothing to do with it - a slot isn't going to magically appear just because you're married, or disappear because you're not.

within the same state: 50/50.
different states; about zilch. the NG is state run/controlled.
marital status means NOTHING.
furthermore who the hell says you will be able to see your GF anyway? she will be living on base and spending 60 hours a week in class and on mandatory study.
