Macbook Air 13.3" 2014 vs Surface pro 3 vs Lenovo yoga 2 pro?
I am confused between 3 devices for school next year. The MacBook air 13.2'' 2014, Lenovo yoga pro 3 and surface pro 3. All of them are light, but the aesthetics of the device are important to me also. I like the surface pro 3 because of the pen and onenote integration, the Lenovo because the specs, motion control and versatility but the aesthetics are a bit off. The MacBook air is the latest trend and it looks good, but it doesn't have a touchscreen for a pen input. Help me which one is good for school that has pen input, looks good (mainly aluminum, magnesium devices look good), light and has good specs because I have IT at school and I need a spec heavy laptop for programming and testing games. I can't choose which device shall i get, the price range can't go higher than AUD 3,000.

surface pro 3 would be the best choice. MacBooks are over hyped and over priced, and lenovo would just suck dirt behind surface pro.

All three are pretty solid. I have a MBA and a yoga atm and prefer the yoga over the MBA, kind of addicted to the touch screen now. I get to use the surface pro 3 at work and it is also amazing, I would have got one but for the i7 256GB SSD with the keyboard it was looking like $2000 where I got the i7 256gb SSD Yoga for about $1000.
All three are light, MBA is going to have the best battery life, where I feel Yoga might have the weakest, I can get over 6 hours on it easy though, however the MBA's battery life is insane long.
I can't stress the awesomeness of the touchscreen enough though, I was all against it until I got one and now I won't go back. Between the three Yoga Pro 2 would be the winner for me. If you're a student make sure to apply for student coupons if getting at best buy or something, can save something like $150.
Another thing you can do is just try them out, Best Buy has a 15 day return policy, grab one, try it out for a week and if you don't like, bring it back and swap for the other. I really feel like they are all so close you will be happy with them all.
While these will work fine for programming, especially with most the things you write in school, they are all very poor gaming machines. They can run games... just not very well.
I feel the pen for the Surface is kinda meh, I haven't found a ton of use for it, when taking notes I just type, and for math I still use pencil and paper. If you plan on maybe doing some art stuff with it maybe, I don't really dabble with that so not sure how well the Surface works for drawing.
