Older dog has started occasionally vomiting after eating?

Update:

I have a senior Jack Russell (16 y/o) and in the last couple of months she has started vomiting after she eats. It's not a daily occurrence, just every now and then. Sometimes she vomits after eating breakfast, dinner or having treats. Sometimes it's as soon as 10 minutes after she eats, sometimes it's half an hour after. She has slowed down with the amount of food she eats anyway and I understand that as she's an older dog but I noticed today that she's lost some weight which I don't like.

Update 2:

I have her booked in for a vet visit but was wondering if anyone else has gone through this with an older dog and what was causing it.

The only older dog I've ever had who went through something similar was diagnosed with a very aggressive liver tumor and had to be put to sleep. Please get this dog to the vet ASAP! Senior dogs must be taken for geriatric health checks every 6 months so you can find and treat health problems before they get serious.

    Older Dog Vomiting

I have a puggle that I have owned for a short time. He struggles with separation anxiety, and we sometimes do not crate him when we go out. He is potty trained but does go to the bathroom on the floor as a result of stress and anger that we have left him at home. It is not necessarily preventable, but buying a crate is a very good way to deal with this. My dog immediately goes in the crate when we give him a treat, and that seems to prevent him going to the bathroom in the house. I would maybe try giving a treat or two before you leave and maybe leaving some sound or maybe the tv on when you leave. If your dog has a background where he was abused (my dog was in the puppymill, abused, etc.), or if you are the first owner, that may add to the reason for this. I think you are accurate in believing this is stress and anxiety. Also, paper and other objects are a BIG contributor. My dog tends to sneak into the bathroom and tear hygiene products, etc. out of the waste basket. Since, he has been coughing up funny substances and the items appear in his waste. I would avoid feeding scraps and try to keep the dog from eating paper items. If nothing works, I would recommend taking the dog to the vet, just to make sure it is not something severe. I hope this helped a bit!

It could also be a type of cancer. I know this sort of thing happens to older dogs.
