College worries?

Update:

I am currently a student at a community college, working to obtain a general education degree, then planning to transfer to a four year university to major in writing. I worry a lot because I fear it will be a return to the hostile environment that came with being a grade school student, really even worse, especially since there's things like sororities and fraternities. What was it like for you when you were a student at a four year place? Do you have to be a member of these groups?

If you don't want the social life at your uni to revolve around frats and sororities, pick unis that don't have much, or any, of a frat/sorority scene. There are a ton of unis that don't have any Greek organizations on campus at all, and still more where the Greek scene is only a very small part of the social life on campus.

Where you go to uni is your choice. Picking unis that don't have a social life that revolves around frats and sororities is a completely acceptable thing to do.
