My friend forgot his password and cannot get inside his computer. Is there anything he can do?

No, don't listen to the awnser about rubbing a magnet on the hard drive, unless you want to buy a new computer.

If there's an administrator account set up in addition to his account, then you would be able to gain access that way. The default username is administrator. There's no password by default.

If an administrator account was not created, then you need to take it to a computer repair center (e.g. Geek Squad) and see if they can retrieve the user ID and password.

If that doesn't work, then insert the OS disk into the computer and reinstall windows.

Have you tried rubbing a magnet on the hard drive? Just take the computer apart (WHILE STILL ON THIS IS IMPORTANT) and do it.

If that doesn't work just try turning it off and back on again.
