    Yes it does require a 990fx chipset motherboard to run a amd fx -9370, can downgrade to a amd fx 8350 the tdp is 125 watts

    No, you need a board that supports a 220W processor. The M5A97 only supports up to 140W.

    That's generally only gonna be 990FX boards like the Asus Sabertooth 990FX, the Asus Crosshair V 990FX, or the Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 or UD5 or UD7 boards.

    Yeah I would go with parts picker on this. Go with a 990fx board.

    That processor is AM3+ socket, so yeah, will fit that motherboard
