Grassroots? I'll give you grassroots. Let's suppose a person has the audacity to violate law by planting vegetables in their front yard. It's the south-facing part of the property in the northern hemisphere so it gets the sun.

Violates ordinances, legal troubles ensue and eventually the bulldozers and SWAT team show up to tear it down. Now let's suppose at the same time 300 neighbors also show up saying "we like the garden and We The People will not allow you to tear down the garden".

Guess who is going to have to back down? The fire dept, ambulance, SWAT, construction crews are all going to have to crawl back into their holes because We The People will not allow them to destroy the garden. We outman, outgun and surround them, so we win.

It'll be the shot heard 'round the world, that finally Americans remembered where their backbone is.

THAT'S! where grassroots IS.

According to literally all Democrats, if you and I get a bunch of other people in our communities interested in an event, interest spreads around the country and groups of us start pooling to organize bus trips - THAT is "AstroTurf" but if government employees - on the clock - are bussed-in to attend a function organized by an executive department - alongside SEIU workers - also on the clock - THAT is "grass roots."
