I bought some green avocados from the store but they are hard and taste bitter?

When I shake them the seed rattles, does this mean they are over ripe or should I put them out for a few days? (I got them yesterday)

    Put them in brown paper bag for a few days it will help to ripen them faster then enjoy

    You are supposed to wait until they are dark to eat them

    Overripe fruit is not hard, it's mushy. Put it in a paper bag with a pear or an apple, it will ripen up fast.
