  • It's never allowed you to "edit" a question. All you can do is to add an update to the question concerned so long as you haven't yet chosen a Best Answer. Click the pencil icon to add an update.

The reason for not updating is that you can effectively make all the answers violations if you are allowed to edit a question and it would be yet another troll tool if it were to happen.

e.g say your question was about the shade of the colour of the sky and that you wanted verification if it was blue (yeah I know silly example but just for argument's sake) and someone were to answer with a simple "yes". Then you go along and edit your question to "Where is Amsterdam located", then you would have an answer saying "yes" which could be reported as it's not actually answering the question (any-more). The reporter wouldn't know the question was changed so not his fault. The answerer answered the original question within the rules so also not his fault. Hence questions cannot be edited.

You can add an Update (use the pencil icon). What you cannot do is change the actual wording of the original question. This is to prevent the troll game whereby you ask a sensible question, get a few answers, then completely change the question so that the answers look stupid and get reported.
