I have bought this year a 2104 Subaru forester and also a 2006 dodge ram quad cab 4wd?
My question is I live in the Midwest out in the country and I am wondering if and what car should I put snow tires on. We get some pretty good drifts so I am thinking the Dodge Ram since it sits up a lot higher. This is my first 4wd Truck so I am new to it all. The Ram only has like 96k miles and had it inspected out and is in Awesome condition no rust nothing wrong with it at all. The Subaru brand new is my g/f's vehicle basically and my Ram is my baby. I have 265/70r/17 on ram new geolander a/t-s tires but not sure if they will handle the snow with the winter this year(I hear its going to be really bad).
So before I invest in tires since they both have NEW tires im wondering which vehicle should I invest those in. IM leaning toward the Dodge because it sits up ALOT higher then the Subaru but we have a 30mile commute each way to work. So any help would be appreciated, thanks.

The Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S tires should perform quite nicely even in a good bit of snow. So don't rush to replace those just yet. On the other hand your gf's Forester more than likely came stock with Yokohama Geolandar G91F tires. Unlike the Geolandar A/T-S the G91F is a highway all season and will not be able to handle much more than a dusting of snow.

The Subaru
The Ram will have a much lighter rear compared to it's front so there won't be that much traction to the rear of the car

I'm thinking the Subaru.

the subie for sure. cheaper tires, better traction since the ram has no weight in the rear end to help. not to mention gas mileage.
