why is the media still focused on this ray rice character?

Like who care? Almost every woman on this planet has been battered. So what makes this broad any different? She is marrying the man so why should we care? Shouldn't we be more focused on how the world is falling apart and not on these two imbeciles?

Domestic violence is a serious issue. Certainly "almost every woman on this planet has been battered" is untrue. But it does happen too often. If this incident focuses attention on the problem of domestic violence than that's a good thing.

As for why it took an NFL star being accused of it to bring the matter to media attention? It's pretty sad. Domestic violence is a big enough problem that it should be covered on its own. But the media loves celebrities, and it loves to take them down. Even then it wasn't until the video surfaced that it became news. This happened in March. Where was the media coverage then? Some lady getting beaten in a trailer in Georgia doesn't make the news. A celebrity beating his wife on camera, with a salacious video to prove it? That's media-worthy.

It's news to me that "almost every woman on the planet has been battered." And even if that were true, it still wouldn't make battering the right thing to do.

Because the NFL, and the team owner did not handle the issue in a timely matter. Last July 2014, a law enforcement officer sent the tape to NFL and to the owner and no disciplinary action was taken against Mr. Rice.

Sadly, I agree that we should not be focused on these two. They are rich and stupid. However, your characterization of almost every woman being battered is not true, but it is a huge problem. You don't ignore a problem just because it is widespread.

Largely because your attitude is part of the problem - "almost every woman on this planet has been battered." "Like who cares?"

Domestic violence situations will never improve with your head in the sand mindset.

Well this is NOTHING compared to what ISIS( ISIL) does to their women- rape , torture and and murder your brother in front of you! This has become more of an issue to bring domestic violence to the public eye. The fact that you think it is so normal means your family is probably one of these sad statistics. There is help out there. Prayers for you and your family.

It's a reason not to have to cover Obama and his problems.

Politically, it is a big deal. Candidates will use it against republicans in the upcoming elections.
