Cost of Spaying my 5 year old Pitt Bull?
I have a 5 year old Pitt Bull named Bella. She needs to be spayed and get all of her shots. Technically she's not mine yet. I'm adopting her from my mom. She's never seen a vet so I'm assuming she needs all of her shots. How much will this cost?

Whatever you do, don't go to a vet hospital. The prices they charge are outrageous. Instead try a low cost spay/neuter clinic. You can call local animal shelters and they can let you know if they offer the spay/neuter or can refer you to someone who does. Since your dog is a female, it will be more than a male surgery (males they are done in 10 minutes...females take longer because they have to open them up and remove the organs) It will go by your dogs weight. But most low cost spay/neuter clinics you can get it done for under $100 (which trust me is great because vet hospitals charge a couple hundred! for the same surgery!)
Your dog is old enough to get a rabies shot, will need distemper and make sure you get her on heartworm prevention (super important) Give her that heartworm pill every month. Most clinics have all of these services at a discounted rate, so just give a call and tell them what you have and what your looking for.
Best of luck!

Depends where you have it done. Usually Humane Societies and Spay/Neuter clinics are much less costly than independent vet clinics. Phone around and compare prices.
And if she's never seen a vet, yes, she will need shots. Those should be done separately from the spay: http://www.dogs4dogs.com/blog/2009/04/29/vaccinati...

i had to pay about 80-100$ for a spay.... came with the procedure and being cared for until it was released at the end of the day with recovery. if the dog happens to be spayed for some reason avoid having it do strenuous exercise for a few weeks to allow it to heal correctly.
as for shots... that costed me 20-30 dollars and a 15$ short visit fee. i consider that very reasonable.

For all shots, a round of worming and heart worm checks, and then spaying.
You will be roughly looking at a 500 dollar bill if not more

Costs vary depending on where you live and what the clinic offers. What you should do is, is ring around to different veterinary clinics and ask them about it then find one you prefer. You could even try your luck and contacting the local humane society and ask if they do spays/neuters and shots for other peoples pets and at what cost. Have her booked in for a vet visit when you have full ownership of the Pit Bull (one T ) dog also.
