Who here is in favor of...?

Who here is in favor of a return to McCarthyism and a return to the era when anyone could be accused of being a "terrorist" because they criticize the US government or don't follow Christianity or Judaism because of hatred for Islam in America?

Isn't that what the Americans have Fox News for nowadays?

Why would the USA need another House Committee blacklisting critics as communists when they've got a 24/7 news network busily lambasting & labelling everything & everyone it disagrees with as "liberal"?

As much as we say the US is about freedom of belief, the US has fostered an atmosphere of fear and loathing of anything that strays too far from pack mentality throughout most of its history. It was within my lifetime that Judaism became broadly acceptable. In other words, it was not so long ago that Jews in America were shunned and forced to live on the margins or create separate but equal to fit in. McCarthyism is just the tip of an iceberg that dwells in the heart of too many Americans, to become manifest now in the form of Islamophobia or worse.

McCarthy was a Wisconsin progressivist liberal who couldn't get elected as a liberal and ran as a republican and got elected. His fellow liberals were ok with him initially going after nazi/fascists within the US, but when he started going after communists he was hitting too close to home and they threw a fit over it.

Are we not already to the point you're describing? Have you not noticed all the divisionism of 'we' and 'they' by the administration and State Media? Traditional Americans are the extremists, the lean forward liberals are the accepted nationalists.

poor choice for an example. mc carthy was right. this was proven after the fall of the soviet union when the kgb's archives were opened, in a file called the "venona" papers in which was revealed that there were in fact about 3000 communist sympathizers in the u.s. in the entertainment industry and elsewhere. what is going on here is the opposite of mc carthyism, since the accusations are false, since those he accused of infiltration long ago are now those who are in power.

As a person who spent his childhood and teenage years during the peak of McCarthyism, my answer to your hopefully sarcastic question is a definite "No!"

Nay. Because everybody is meant to feel safe. Remember the four freedoms. It would be contrary to even the constitution for playing the blame game based on race, religion, or political choice.

    (R) Dwight Eisenhower, president during the 1950s, secretly hated McCarthyism.

    With some alterations most definitely

It's not that Islam is hated necessarily but that it can't be trusted, and they just keep proving it

It's not hate for islam, it's hate for those who want us dead and those who enable them by sitting by silently. The so-called moderate muslims cannot be considered moderate if they do not speak out against the radical jihadis
