What do I need to know about a London vacation from Florida, USA?

I would like to arrange a trip for my daughter, who has always dreamed of visiting London, but I do not know where to start, as far as Visas? accomodations? etc.

    First things to do:

    - get a guidebook

    - set a budget

There are literally thousands of things to do in London - so the best way to start is to narrow down the things you definitely want to do. This'll also give you an idea of how long you might want to stay! (If she's a Harry Pottet fan you might want to factor in the Experience; the science and natural history museums are great, child friendly and free; and a spot of afternoon tea somewhere would probably go down well too!)

London is expensive - you're looking at a minimum of £100/night for a very basic hotel. There are however often deals to be had - check out chain hotel websites such as premier inn and Travelodge.

Americans are granted visas on entry; you need to demonstrate you've got sufficient funds for your holiday and a return ticket, but you should have no problem.

American citizens do NOT need a visa to visit the UK for up to 6 months as tourists., just their passport. See site below and read section on Entry/Exit/Visa Requirements.
