It's a religion started in the 7th century by a failed merchant, based on Christianity and Judaism with a bit of Hellenistic philosophy thrown in for good luck. The failed merchant's older wife was the first convert and patron of the fledgling religion. His child bride was one of the main arbiters of what may or may not have actually being a saying of his when the Koran was being collected after his death. Islam literally means "submission."

I know quite a lot about the general beliefs, but having been brought up in Bradford in the UK it was a major part of our RE lessons.

In the Uk we study all major world religions from age 9-16 in a subject called religious education.So I have a working knowledge of all religions.Which is why I am an agnostic.

its a barbaric retrograde ideology, with heir achy as the basis , you imams preach hatred and tell your children they are born for hell you deny them a fair education, this is why muslims in muslim countries lack critical thinking,cannot sustain a civilised conversation without relapsing to a state of infancy and being offended you do not have the right to be offended, i have the right to be offended at the facile regime and oppression of your own people and children by lack of education to be lead as sheep into a religion that is facile,outdated and not meant for this era , im atheist and i have looked into taqqiya there lies your problem not ours

Not much. It is another offshot of Judaism and the ancient polytheistic semitic religions that spawned Judaism.

"We have not sent thee but as a Universal (Messenger) to men, giving them glad tidings, and warning them (against sin), but most men understand not." (34:28)

This is a very clear statement of the universality of Almighty Allah's Religion (the concept and religion of Islam). There are more to follow:

"Indeed We sent Nuh to his people, and he said: O my people! Worship Allah. Ye have no other god except Him. Verily! I fear for you the Punishment of a Dreadful Day" (7:59) "And unto (the tribe of) ‘Ad (We sent) their brother Hud. He said O my people! Worship Allah. You have no other god save Him. Will you not ward off (evil)?" (7:65) "And unto Madyan (We sent) their brother Shu’ayb. He said O my people! Worship Allah. You have no other god but Him." (7:85) "And to (the tribe of) Thamud We sent their brother Salih. He said O my people! Worship Allah. You have no other god save Him." (7:73) "And verily We have sent among every nation an apostle (proclaiming): Worship Allah and eschew evil." (16:36)

"And Ibrahim said to his people "Serve Allah and fear Him. That will be best for you, if ye understand! "(29:16)

Every prophet was sent unto his own nation for their guidance, but the message of The Last Prophet Muhammad (SA) is general for all mankind:

"Say: O mankind! Verily! I am sent as the rasul to you all." (7:158)

"Above all, it is a Message to all the worlds." (68:52)

Therefore, it is obvious that Almighty Allah's Religion had entered a universal level by the time Islam was introduced as a way of life (din) and that the Noble Qur'an is a Book of Guidance for all humankind, in all places and for all times.

I thought Islam is the best religion of any other religion.

That it is a cancer and rotting the brains of a billion plus people while causing misery for the rest of the planet!
