Graphics Card....Is it working?

I have a laptop with Windows 7 as the OS, and nVidia Graphics card is pre-installed. How do I know if the graphics card is working? Some of my friends saying that I've to install the driver to make it work. Feeling confused! Adding more confusion the following message is being displayed:

Windows Update shows this (optional) to install:

nVidia - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3 - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760.

Now tell me if I have to do all these hullabaloo to make the graphics work or is it already working. If it is already working, then from which menu can I find that?

In order to function properly, it does need the correct driver. Definitely install the Windows update. Also, go to your laptop's mfg web site and download the latest version of all the drivers and the latest BIOS. Install them all.
