Does anyone find it odd when atheists say "Oh my God," or "Jesus?" I suppose it is like when religious people say, "Let's be reasonable."?

I've also said, "Ye Gods!" and, "By Odin's beard!" with equal significance to me. Though as my name implies, I'm a bit weird.

  • Well, when people say holy sh!t, try not to take it literally.

That said, I've pretty much gotten out of the habit. When I type OMG, I mean "oh, my goodness".

But some of Will Ferrell's lines in "Anchorman", such as "Great Odin's Raven!" are pretty cool.

So If I were an atheist but believed that Earth was made of diamonds and blue cheese I'd be reasonable both in" reality "and in your eyes.. The conmment's glaring implication is that religious people CANNOT be reasonable. Since the ability to reason in your opinion depends solely on whether or not one is religious I'd be a genius but if that's the case I'd rather be "Unreasonable and believe it's made of rock and several other components.

Well those words have slowly evolved to become sayings, and when people say it no one including religious people actually mean what the original meaning was back 2000 years ago. Its just a saying like "Sam is gay"

i don't mean Sam is happy i mean Sam is a homosexual.

    It's just an expression.

    Get over it.

It's the same as when someone says "f*ck you", and they don't actually mean they want to have sex with you.l

Yes! If God did not exist, why would there be a word? What else has a word but does not exist - other than in deliberate fiction (Jabberwokky, Dalek, etc.). Hence concepts such as angels and spirit must also exist, having names in virtually every religion and culture - even though such cultures could never have met each other when it all began. Reasonable?!

Not sure about your silly second sentence, though.

I was a habit I had to learn to break because I did find it odd.

About as odd as someone exclaiming "sh*t!" ...
