Is Destiny as bad as the reviews say?

Everyone I know who has Destiny says it's amazing. But all the mainstream reviews give it mediocre scores at best, and it is getting a lot of hate in the comment sections. Is the game really that bad? Would you recommend getting it?

Maybe you're asking the wrong question.

Ask these people what they do when they play the game, because I know for a FACT that they are doing the same thing over and over again.

Why? Because there is no more content! Right now, everyone is simply increasing their reputation with various factions, so they can eventually be able to purchase better armor and weapons.

However, the only way to increase faction reputation is to grind the same side quests and same areas over and over and over again.

It is extremely dull and irritating.

I just spent about an hour last night in the same area, doing the same thing that I have already done many times, in order to get my Queen's reputation up.

After that, I just stood around for about 20 minutes waiting for a public event Walker to show up, which never happened.

I keep thinking that somehow the game will get better, but it probably never will.

Destiny is a very good space adventure. It's got really solid FPS gameplay. It's also got loot and who doesn't love finding loot to get better weapons and armor? There are also perks for one of your three classes ( They are Hunter, Warlock and Titan ) and each class also has a sub class. So you could spend many hours fully upgrading three guardians to the max level of 30, get all their perks in their class and in their sub classes and find them legendary weapons and armor. You can do this through the single player story, The online MP which is either 3 v 3 or 6 v 6 and in other modes like Strikes, raids and patrols. There is a lot of content and the gameplay is solid and the loot finding is addictive. Now it's not all great as the story is Destiny isn't really there. You are thrown in and you don't have much of an idea to what is going on, why things are happening or why you are doing what you're doing. Characters also are pretty much non existent. It's strength and focus is on gameplay for sure. It also looks really good from a graphics and a design point. The music also is PHENOMENAL . It can be described as a FPS/RPG with MMO elements. Even a Halo meets Borderlands. It's a game worth picking up if you're into space adventure, online or offline FPS games or loot finding and leveling up games. It's a fun and addictive game but if you really care about plot, story or characters this isn't for you.

I feel like Destiny is amazing, The reason why people are giving it bad reviews is because they expected something totally different. I admit that there is no depth to the story but the gameplay is flawless. Destiny is the best game released on next gen so far. I've already put in tons of hours into the game and I don't see myself putting it down anytime soon. I love playing with friends completing strike and playing multiplayer. I would definitely recommend this game.

The game has its cons and pros. The cons are it doesn't really have a story. I mean literally there is almost no story whatsoever. The weapons and armor you get lack variety beside Exotic gear which looks really nice. It's a pain in the *** to group up with people in end game content. As of now it's going to the game forums and ask for a group. The world isn't as open ended as Bungie said. To be quite honest it feels rather small at times.

Pros: The pvp can be really fun. Needs more variety in pvp modes. It's fun as he'll to play with people in missions and a lot of the missions can be intense at times. The 3 classed they have are all pretty fun to play with, though needs more differences in class skills. Game has a lot of potential to become epic.

Overall I am glad I bought the game as it has sucked away a lot of my free time. Just be warned if you do plan on buying it that eventually you will want to spend another 35 bucks for the expansion pass.

I haven't played it yet myself, but I've noticed the same thing - websites give it like 7s, but everyone I've talked to (co-workers, friends, etc) all say it's really cool and fun.

So I'm starting to conclude that the media expected it to be the next Halo (a revolutionary, defining game - as Halo CE was the first game to really NAIL console shooters*, and H2 was the first to really pin down online mutliplayer on a console). It's NOT that, and it does have flaws, so apparently that letdown gets it "decent" scores.

On the other hand, I think most gamers just want something fun/playable/that they feel they got their money's worth out of. Everyone I've spoken with seems to feel Destiny meets this criteria, so good enough for it to be a good game to me.

Source(s): *sorry folks, Goldeneye does not count. Go back and replay it. It has not aged well. at all. Great game for its time, but its terrible, primitive controls make it all but unplayable now. Halo 1 is still a very playable game.

Some people always have something to complain about. For example I've heard dozens of 12 year old dissing games they've never played just because it's not like CoD. Same principle here, some people want games to follow a (usually dumb) set of guidelines
