    Easy answer: Supercomputers usually use the brute force method. It involves trying random codes at a very high speed until it guesses the correct one :)

    Generally by brute force using dictionaries of words other strings, images etc for passwords or crypto-keys and injecting 'junk binary' of different values for created spoofed matches for hash sums.
