How can you create 2 waves that have the same speed but different wavelengths?

So, in my science class, we took two ropes. On each end of the rope, there was a student (4 students in all). If both ropes were at the same speed, how can they have different wave lengths? Please explain that to me! Thank you!

    The wave speed depends on the the mass, length and tension in the rope.

    Assuming the 2 ropes are identical with the same tension, then changing the frequency inversely changes the wavelength. E.g if you double the frequency you halve the wavelength

    The speed = wavelength x frequency, so speed stays the same.
