why, if there is no actual evidence that Jesus lived, do people still believe in him?

there was no contemporary writing of Jesus and the first was from Saul, a noted thief, adulterer, misogynist and gay basher. Most of the gospels were written by his friends and family under his tutelage. the next was inserted into a passage by Josephus, some 300 years after the original was written

The fact of the matter, the word which is the bible, became flesh and dwelt among us, became flesh and dwelt among us is God Jesus Christ, Emmanuel, means God with us, that is God Jesus Christ name, also there is plenty of evidence that God Jesus Christ lived, but you will never believe the bible because the bible is the word of God an God is not a liar, like Satan is, the father of lies, his has been a liar from the beginning and he will be a liar until the end, God Jesus Christ lived, and there are a lot of statement in the bible that back up the account that it was so, and if you went to the holy land you would see all the places where God Jesus Christ passed through and stayed and all the prophecy were fulfilled because it was not fulfilled then he would not have been the messiah, but all the scriptures were fulfilled, because Jesus Christ is God, and God is all knowing an all seeing, that is how he knew that Judas was going to betray him for 30 pieces of silver, and that peter would deny him 3 times before the **** crowed, im just paraphrasing.

Well there are several reasons why a person believes, not just one. A big factor that MAKES people believe is the fear factor. You are constantly told if you don't accept Jesus you will go to hell. That hell is just horrible. Being burned alive feeling as demons chew on your arms and the intense pain never goes away. There are many many things which will send you to hell, and you constantly feel the need to pray for forgiveness.

The promise of life after death in heaven is another one. Then there is the every good event you have in your life is God answering prayer or giving you blessings. After years of this it makes you believe that God is there. You hear other Christians do it, and it all reinforces the belief. Such as "I prayed for money, the next day I found 30 dollars on the ground the next day." This is evidence that God exists. Plus any bad things that happen are evidence that demons are trying to bring you down. You get sick, it's Satan coming against you.

There are many evidences that prove Jesus existed but even if there werent, why do you stress so much over something you believe it doesnt exist? Dont atheists have bigger stuff to worry about?? If you dont want to believe in God, then fine dont believe but why are you so bothered by the fact that other people believe? Why does the diversity of beliefs bother you atheists so much? Some people are believers. LIVE WITH IT. Now that i recall, you posted an aswer to my question that was more of a question rather than an aswer. I would like to answer to it: Atheists shove their atheism down my throat all the time even when i make it clear to them that i respectfully disagree with them and that i already have my beliefs to which im entitled and they have no right at all to force their beliefs upon me no matter how righteous they think they are. Atheists are everything they accuse believers for.

Because unlike all men, God is not a liar

So we believe him for his every word

Num 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

And I cannot imagine why anyone at all would care what I believe.

For the same reason that people have believed in all the thousands of OTHER gods there's no credible evidence for -- because they're afraid of dying, and they're grasping at straws.

There is nothing special or unique about your particular imaginary friend.

If you're going to believe something as ridiculous as virgins getting knocked up by gods historical evidence probably isn't a major factor in what you choose to believe.

The Christian church is proof that Jesus lived.

The books selected for the Bible were based on

    collected written evidence by eye-witnesses.

his honorable burial by Joseph of Arimathea

the discovery of his empty tomb

    his post-mortem appearances

and the origin of his disciples' belief in his resurrection

it's important in Atheism that God, the bible, and Jesus be denied because of judgment and hell

so you are telling me you will accept nothing written by a bible writter, even though the intertwining story of 4000 year old redemption of man is flawless

but if some asshat off the street wrote about him...that you would accept

    that is seriously lame

The authority of the bible is demonstrated by all of its interlaced interconnections

There is no actual evidence that either one of us is here, except for the computer screen.
