Most of continental Europe is the same. France, for example, is in theory almost entirely Catholic but so few people go to church that in rural areas, the Catholic Church is having to resort to ever more imaginative methods of ensuring that Catholics who actually want it CAN get their weekly communion, such as authorising more use of extended communion - an authorised minister taking what has been consecrated at mass around the villages.

Religious observance in Scandinavia declined decades ago. Very few Swedes ever go to church, and of those that do, the majority only go once a year.
