Why are nutcracker bars put on boys' and men's bikes?

Update:

Boys' and men's bikes have nutcracker bars, but girls' and women's bikes do not. Why are not all bikes made without nutcracker bars?

Because the top tube design builds the strongest/stiffest frame for a given weight and material. This is nice if you want a light, high performance bicycle.

Bashing your groin isn't much of a problem on a properly sized bike. I don't think I've hurt myself on the top tube on 20 years or so.

Step-through frames are either flexier, heavier, or more expensive.

I think that most people who say they've been hurt "down there" due to riding a bicycle are either remembering their experience wrong or were riding like an idiot or were riding a bike that was way too big.

Of the 200 MILLION or more diamond-style frames made since the advent of the design the TOTAL number of people sustaining any type of actual injury- those that resulted in having medical attention to their nut-s is probably lower than the daily count of those having to get treated for a skinned knee from a fall while walking.

Don't make the vanishingly small chance of getting injured on a properly sized and maintained bike prevent you from riding. The infinitesimal risk doesn't even come close to the benefits to you and others around you.

The design of a bike frame is basically two triangles put together. This makes the bike frame really strong.

A girl's bike is a compromise of that design to allow girls to ride a bike while wearing a dress. The bike's frame isn't nearly a strong as a traditional frame.

I only cracked my nuts a few times when I was kid, and I haven't done it in over 40 years of riding since then. At some point, you need to figure out what you're doing wrong, and then correct it.

Girls and women also ride bicycles with top tubes. Step through frames can also be ridden by men if they prefer that style of bike. There is really no such thing any more as "men's" and " women's" bicycles. Bicycles with a horizontal top tube are structurally stronger than step through frames, so if you want a bike to be lighter, yet still strong, that is the type of frame to buy

That high bar makes the frame stronger. If you want to wear a skirt get a women's step through frame.
