How can I get over stress from football?
My parents forced me to play football, and I have no choice but to play it because they're really strict. A week after we started, I got a major concussion when my helmet flew off in practice and I got tackled pretty bad... Ever since then I've been standing around watching plays for 5 weeks, and now I can play. I feel really stressed out and anxious about it because my friend told me that my team mates are making fun of me for it. I hat going to football and I think about it everyday 24/7. I actually got sick and threw up a couple of times because of my anxiety and I feel horrible. Is there any way I can get rid of this feeling?

You need to talk to your parents about this (unless you honestly fear their reaction after thinking about it rationally – if you feel threatened or like they might harm you, call someone for help immediately). Forcing a child to play sports is never a good idea, and it's not always a good way for them to get fit or socialise. It sounds like you may have PTSD from the concussion; at the very least, you have some struggles with anxiety. Talk to your parents about football, and maybe decide on a better way for you to get fit/socialise (swimming, track/field, etc). Breathe deeply in and out for five minutes, it can help calm you down. Chocolate will make you happier, as will playing with a pet. Remember that everything is okay, it's just a game, and it's not the end of the world, even if it feels like it. If they're making fun of you, they're probably not very nice people and you shouldn't bother with them. If you continue to feel so anxious that you're actually making yourself sick, I would definitely recommend you see a counsellor or talk to your parents about whether football is such a good idea. Confronting parents can be tough, but once you actually do it, it's not that difficult. And it could mean no more football, which makes it all worth it. Take care of yourself!
