Balancing Equations for Half-Reactions?

Hello I am trying to learn how to balance equations using high reactions. I have to balance them and identify the half-reaction.

First Example

O2 (g) --> H2O (l)

I get that O2--> H2-2e

Is that correct?

    "using high reactions" ---> they are called half reactions.

    O2 (g) --> H2O (l)

    balance the oxygen

    O2 (g) --> 2H2O (l)

    balance the hydrogen

    4H^+ + O2 (g) --> 2H2O (l)

    balance the charge

    4e^- + 4H^+ + O2 (g) --> 2H2O (l)
