yahoo answers, why is there a limit to answering and asking questions?

You know some answers and questions need examples and explinations to them. So why is there a limit to the amount of words we can use?

The idea of this site is that you try and answer the question in 1,000 characters or less. You have to keep the answers straight to the point and mention only the important things regarding the question. If the answer is too long then some users tend not to read them. Sometimes it is easier to be brief and to the point with your answer and then add a web site that the asker can check for further information.

The history of the site shows that after about 1000 characters users stop reading. Long questions either get poor, incomplete, or no answers at all. Long answers are better but most askers are not looking for that.
