What kind of audio receiver should I get for my bedroom?
I have a 32" LCD TV sitting on top of an old Pioneer VSX-D710S and I'm looking to upgrade to something more relevant. I have a satellite receiver, a PS3, a PS4 and my laptop that I plan on connecting to the receiver via HDMI because my TV has one HDMI port.
I'm looking to spend about $400 or less on the receiver. It would be nice to have fancier features like built-in Bluetooth and WiFi, but as long as it has 3 HDMI ports and a USB port, that's pretty much all I need.

Well, you might spend some time on sites such as Newegg.com and Amazom.com, in their electronics section, and look around to see some other receivers which might have more inputs besides the usual 3-4 HMDIs, and see what you can find.
And if it's the Pioneer 524 you want, it's under $250 on Amazon.com. I agree that that one is definitely light on non HDMI inputs.
And, you might consider some other makes. A Harman Kardon AVR 1565 for $300 might do the trick, and it's rear speaker terminals are better than the 524's.

I'm considering the Pioneer VSX-524-K because it's a very basic receiver and has exactly enough HDMI ports and speaker channels I need, as well as a subwoofer pre-out for my gigantic Klipsch Synergy subwoofer. The fact that it has a very small amount of AV inputs sets me off a little, but not enough to not consider it unless I find something better at the same (or a lower) price.
