HELP!! Computer bug?

I've had this for years. All my pages have random "links" (double-underline) to ads. Even stuff that I have typed and should be clean - is full of these buggy "links."

I have Norton. I have Ad-Aware. I recently found a Chrome thingy that got rid of pop-ups. And so I hope - please - is there a way to rid myself of nefarious bogus links?

I think I'd have to go back years, really. And probably lose stuff I do want. Does this bug have a name? It has cropped up in every computer I have had for decades. And thank you so much for your prompt answer!

These underlined items are 'related' ads, not "malware" or a "bug".

Install "AdBlock Plus" for Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search?q=ad+blo...

Since Google bought them a few months ago, they have revamped ABP to allow ads from Google, so it must be further modified to block "acceptable ads".

See how to do that here: http://www.ghacks.net/2013/07/31/how-to-configure-...

If lined words persist, block JavaScript: use Chrome add-on "ScriptSafe" https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/scriptsa...

This add-on is a bit more user-involved and requires on-going attention for different sites.

I use Firefox with "NoScript" which I've had for years and know how to interact with...but I seldom use Chrome and can't say how easy to use ScriptSafe is.

Chrome is one big spying browser anyway, so you are on your own with that.

    -------------

There is no need to 'restore' the system to an earlier time...just start with ABP> try it out> add ScriptSafe if ABP lacks the control you seek.
