were the Stayfree Maxi Pads (regular)better now or in the past. becides for the scented, quality wise, was it better back then or now,thanks?

The pads used to be 1/2" to 3/4" thick and you had to wear a strap around you to keep them on, they did not have sticky bottom to stay in place. It was horrible!
