Is it correct to call someone traveling on a river (via boat) riverbound?

    No River bound would mean they were constrained by the river.

    I think the word(s) you are looking for is River borne or water borne.

    They could be bound (direction) either up or down the river.

    Or they could be bound (tied) to a boat.

    Or they could Bound (leap) out of the boat.

    No, riverbound isn't a phrase I've ever come across, and it sounds more like someone restricted to a river than travelling on it.
