Boxing: Does it annoy you or make you angry when Family Guy make fun of Ali's health?
Sorry if some of you consider it immature to watch Cartoons but Family guy is a funny show.I just think they don't know were to draw the line.
Like so many times in the past they poked fun of Ali's Parkison's syndrome in the latest episode and like on previous occasions, it really made my blood boil. The writers of the show really don't know were to draw the line. However this does raise a question.. were do you draw the line?I have often laughed when they made fun of people with conditions that i consider to be less cruel. For example they sometimes take the p!ss out of deaf people and i have found it funny.I'm sure theres a parent of a deaf child out there who watch these shows and get just as angry as i do when they bring Ali up.any thoughts/opinions?

Here's the thing...
Shows like Family Guy, American Dad, South Park, and The Simpsons are all shows that claim the motto, "Either everything is okay to poke fun at or nothing is." Obviously they chose the first option. They can get away with basically anything BECAUSE they're a cartoon show. I've been a fan of Family Guy and South Park for awhile and they both take that motto to its brink without completely falling off the ledge. Honestly, it's just something you have to deal with if you want to keep watching the show.

I used to enjoy Family Guy but now I think they've run out of material, just like most comedy acts. The thing about comedy in general is that it has a very short shelf-life.
.
I might still enjoy an occasional episode if I watched it but I don't think I'd enjoy it if they made fun of Ali's health. I understand everything is fair game and I love a good twisted joke. But I probably won't find that funny. It's just me.

Lets get this clear.... Death will greet us all eventually, to mock somebody's imminent departure is crass...
As boxing fans, we love Ali.
But a little respect of the dearly nearly departed, is what segregates us from the apes in the tree's..
Frank Warren stated this week, that a close friend informed him of Ali's critical condition.
Ali ain't down and out yet, he can still beat the eight count!

They also make fun of current and past American presidents so I guess the great Muhammad Ali is a fair prey being a public figure himself. I don't mind very much because there are also serious, real life tributes that come Ali's way from time to time. Trivializing Ali is also one way of keeping him in our memory as well as making him known to the younger set of Americans and other people who will only get to know about him if he happens to be a topic of their research paper. We can also look at it from this positive perspective. Am an Ali 4ever fan mind you.

Family Guy has always annoyed me and never was funny. But to make fun of a legend that is very ill it's just sad.

Yes. This is no laughing matter. In this age of political correctness they should not do that. The man is very sick now. Surprisingly both Frazier and Norton died before him. You should stop watching the show. Remember it is just satire and do not take it personally.

It is in bad taste, but Ali used to cruelly make fun of people too, like Sonny Liston and Joe Frazier.

Family Guy insults lots of things and people and is often over the line. The cure is to not watch it.

I have never watched Family Guy. After this question, I never will. Cartoons have a place, but not a very significant one.
