Which sentence below is correct does it need a apostrophe?

1. My partner's work transferred him from an America to English employee.

2.My partners work transferred him from an America to English employee.

    The second sentence is not correct.

    The apostrophe in the first sentence is correct but there is a grammatical error further on. It should be:

    My partner's work transferred him from an American to an English employee.

    However, it may be better to say:

    The nature of my partner's work meant transferring from an American employee to an English one.
