Boil soup (or applesauce) to keep from spoiling and getting nasty?
I have a pot of applesauce that I've been neglecting. I know I should just eat it, but sometimes I just don't want applesauce because I'm already so full of fruit. I don't want it to go bad, but it might be in my fridge for a long time. Can I just boil it once a week and put it back in the fridge? Would it ever get nasty? I also have a pot of soup.
I just wanted to update: the mice took out my freezer so that's no longer an option. Please don't bring it up.

I'm a little concerned about what exactly you mean by "neglecting" ....
If you have extra portions that won't be eaten within a few days, you can always just freeze them. Bag into portions, label it, and it's ready to thaw when you need it.
