What do you say to a person who tells you "To be loved, one must be lovable, and I'm not."?

Update:

She is a wonderful person, she just seems to be unable to get the right man. To see her in pain like this tears me up inside, but a relationship between us is impossible, I'm old enough to be her Grandfather.

She needs to learn how to love herself. Also it would be a good thing if she could learn about friendship and the love of a friend, because that's probably what she needs most -that's what we all need most, the affection of a true friend -any gender-. Relationships often bring more pain than joy and can be way too complicated for most people. I guess it's not for everyone and it's not a real need either. Affection from a true friend is a need for everyone though, and most people in a relationship or not, lack that.

That's when you say, " if you were unloveable then why do I love you why do I want to hold you in my arms and kiss you right now, why have I been waiting for someone like you to come into my life". If you do love her :/ if not I don't know.

Tell them they got the quote out of context and if they want out show em the door.

Pain? She is the pain, and she's dragging you along to see how far you'll stretch. Don't follow this banana just split!
