Mamma Cat asked in PetsCats · 7 years ago

I have a new foster cat that I got from my local shelter today. She is "4 weeks pregnant" by the person that surrendered her.?

However, she can't walk without falling from her back legs. She is so large, I thought she was about to deliver. Her nipples are flat. Her abdomen is firm, but belly is fat and falling to the floor. She is missing many teeth, her fur is oily and she yowls like she is in pain or confused.

I will get authorization to take her to a vet tomorrow.

I am concerned that she is an older cat and has a different medical problem.

My question is, how old can a cat get pregnant? I don't know her age, but I am guessing that she is quite old.

It's good you're taking the cat to the vet tomorrow. The oldest cat to ever get pregnant was supposedly 15 years old. However, it's far more likely the cat you have isn't pregnant at all, but may have an infection of the uterus known as a closed pyometra.

I have had cats with pyometra that had a vaginal discharge. She does not. I am more concerned with FIP.
