Introducing new cat to resident kitten?
At the moment I have a 6 month old spayed female kitten that I got from a shelter when she was 12 weeks. I work at the shelter every Sunday and have completly fallen in love with a 2 year old grey cat. He's neutered but is MASSIVE. My kitten is quite a small girl. How should I introduce them. Is it any different.I dont want her to get beaten up by the massive cat. They both get along fine with cats previously so this shouldn't be a problem.
4 AnswersCats6 years agoMouse trap/bait not working?
We recently saw 2 mice in our house so set out and bought 2 mice traps and I also made one auto bottle trap. We see the mice come out from under the kitchen unit but the only come out for a few seconds and go back under again. They dont seem to come out far but every now and then we see them across the room. We are only going to use humane traps because the mouse is just trying to live and doesn't mean any harm. We have used peanut butter, snickers, butter, cheese and mouse bait but the mouse hasn't even touched it. What can we do to encourage the mouse to go into the trap. All i an find is use peanut butter but clearly thats not working.
1 AnswerOther - Home & Garden6 years agoIs my 4 month old kitten in heat?
She is 4 month today and in the last week she has been acting a little like she s in heat. She has suddenly started meowing for no reason and will just walk around the house meowing constantly all day. This started about 5 days ago. Also she is being really affectionate towards me and is suddenly following me around and will always want a cuddle. These are the only symptoms she has displayed. I tried firmly stroking down her back and when i got to her tail she meowed. However she has not done the frog pose and hasn t lifted her tail to one side. Is she in heat or not? If she is I m going to have to wait to get her spayed because my vet doesn t spay cats while they are in heat!
3 AnswersCats6 years ago10 month old cat is pregnant. Will she be ok?
We got her from a home run animal charity when she was 5 months old and the woman lied to us about a lot off stuff. She told us she was microchipped, spayed, flea/worm treated and vaccinated. The cat had a lot of fleas and had tape worm eggs in her poos so we got her flead and wormed again and vaccinated just in case. We never really thought much about the spaying thinking the woman had actually done it. But today i noticed her nipples are really big and pink. Now that i think back she had been miewing but it never really clicked in my head. Shes only 10 months old. Will she be ok will the pregnancy?
2 AnswersCats6 years agoCan i take my cat to univercity?
I want to study veterinary medicine and i live in the uk. When i got my cat my dad said i cant leave it here when i go uni and i dont plan to. I am not really fussed about which uni i get into as long as they do veterinary medicine. But seeing as it is veterinary medicine there must be a uni that lets u take pets?
4 AnswersHigher Education (University +)6 years agoTeaching kitten to retract claws and stop biting?
My 8 and half week old kitten doesnt really retract her claws properly. She loves jumping up on our legs but always ends up scratching us because her claws are out. Is there a way to teach her not to do this. Also she sometimes nibbles on out fingers and just before i can tell her no she'll start licking them. Should i still tell her off. If so how?
1 AnswerCats6 years agoTrying to mate my cat with a specific cat that i see in my garden?
Hi, I have a grey and white female cat. I know a boy that goes to my school that tells me he has a grey cat that got his neighbours cat pregnant. he lives a few houses along and i always see his cat in my garden. Its unneutered and i really want my cat to have grey kittens. I know if i let my cat outside she will get pregnant regardless if its that grey cat or not. Is there a way I can tempt this cat to come to my garden and then i mate it with my cat to get grey kittens. I dont want to ask the boy this because we arnt really friends. I want her to have grey kittens but i know it has to be recessive. Don't comment unless your gonna answer the question otherwise i'll report you. I have my mind made up already so **** off if your gonna tell me not to.
Cats6 years agoSeparating and briing back 2 kittens from the same litter?
Basically we got a kitten last week and she has settled in fine. She came from a litter of 4. The woman we got her from hasn't been able to sell 2 of the kittens and my parents said if they haven't sold the tortie female then we can get her as well. They are from the same litter and they were all close. Baring in mine if we do get her they will have been separate for 3 weeks will they still remember each other and get along or will i have to introduce them slowly.
3 AnswersCats6 years agoTaking in a stray cat into a come with 8 week old kitten?
Hi. Since march there has been a stray grey tabby cat that has been hanging around our garden. She gets around alot and my friends even see her on there road. They live on a road opposite mine which has a busy main road inbetween. Today we took her to the vet surgery to see if she is microchiped because she has been meowing at our door and crying all day and night. never leaving. She is really skinny as well. The vet said shes not microchipped and is in a poor shape. I had a cat that died last month and i would have happily taken this one in but we got a new kitten last week. The kitten turns 8 weeks old tomorrow and i was thinking about taking in the stray cat. She is the sweetest thing ever. She lets u do anything and everything to her and has never scratched or bitten me once. If i take her in how would i get her used to the kitten without the risk of her killing it?The kitten is so tiny so that a huge worry.
3 AnswersCats6 years agoCan i take a unvaccinated 7 week 6 day old kitten out side supervised?
Hi, I have a 7 week old 6 day old kitten that has settled in really well. I had a cat last year that only started going outside at 6 months because i waited like the vet said to get him neutered. He never really understood and had little road sense and got hit by a car last month. After weeks of morning and feeling sad i got another kitten from the same woman who's cat had had another litter of kittens. The kitten hasn't really shown a interest in the outside world but my friends and family are telling me to show her the outside from a early age so that while she's still learning she will learn what to do and not do outside. I sort of agree with this and i have bought a harness for her. But will she be ok going outside unvaccinated. I see other cats come and go from my garden and sometimes they spray. Could she get ill even without having face to face contact with them?
4 AnswersCats6 years agoIntroducing 2 kittens together?
Hi. 2 days ago i picking up a 7 and half week old kitten form a breeder that i have known for quite along time. She had had a litter of 4 kittens and give my the pick of th elitter i picked the grey and whited socked female kitten and took her home. Its been a few days now and the kittens has settled in great but does like to play alot and i would like to get another. If I got one of the kittens that are left over from the same litter would they need to be introduced like how 2 adult cats are or would they recognized each other and settle in straight away. Baring in mind its only been 2 days and when i saw them they where very close I think it will be fine but just want to check. Will the settle in fine or need introducing slowly?
2 AnswersCats6 years ago7 week 3 day kitten hasnt gone toilet?
I took home my 7 week old kitten yesterday (I know now that 7 weeks is to young) She is fully weaned and litter trained. The woman i got her from didnt lie because i have got kittens from her previously at 9 weeks old and they were fully litter trained. I took her home and just before we got inside she did a slightly soft poo in the carrier. After this she hasnt gone toilet at all. Its been just over 24 hours since i took her home. Shes eating wet and a tiny bit of dry food every few hours. Should I be concerned. I am using the same food and litter as the breeder.
5 AnswersCats6 years ago7 week old kitten problems?
So i got a kitten last year from the shelter and it was 12 weeks old. I was kinda sad that i missed out on her super cute stage but i new it was better to get a kitten at this age. I have had loads of friends that get kittens at 8 weeks old and these kittens always seem to turn out fine. They have no litter box problems or biting. My sister got a kitten yesterday and its 7 weeks and 3 days old. I told her to wait but she said its fine. What kind of problems could the kitten have. She said its using the litter box fine and eating perfectly but will it have temperment issues when its older?
3 AnswersCats6 years agoGetting a kitten use to having its belly touched?
Hi i'm getting another kitten from a animal rescue next week. My last cat died after getting hit by a car (I'm from england its considered normal to let your cat outside) My last cat hated having his belly touched most of the time and i was wondering if there is a way to get a cat use to having there bell touched. Would positive reinforcment work?
5 AnswersCats6 years agoBlack and white cat and grey female cat had kittens?
My cats was pregs and i got her spayed. I know population is a huge problem so even though i didnt want to do it i still had to ethically. The cat that got her pregnant was the mostly white with a little black longhaired cat that lives next door. If i had not terminated the pregancy what would the kitten colour be. My cat is blue with white socks. I looked up on the internet and the cat fancy website said only the parents colour matters. So you dont need to know the granparents which is lucky cause i dont know them for the other cat.
1 AnswerCats6 years agoI dont know what to do??
So at the start of march my cat didn't come home like he normally did so i was outside shaking at packet of treats for ages for him to come. Instead I attracted a grey tabby cat which seemed really small and skinny. It shadowed me at first and i gave it a treat seeing as i felt sorry for it. After that my cat came back and had a fight with it and the poor kitty ran away. I then realised that i shouldn't have done that seeing as it my cats territory and not that cats. Last month my cat went missing and it turned out he had gotten lost and then got hit by a car while trying to find his way home. Now that my cat no longer owned this territory that cat has decided to come back only this time it has a collar on. Firstly its a dog collar with no quick release and i thought about taking it off because i know it can be dangerous if a cat gets stuck. Secondly my friend lives on a road which is opposite to mine and she had a kitten that went missing last year that looks just like this cat. But we aren't sure because it has a collar. The cat keeps on trying to come in to my house and will cry outside for ages. I went outside and cuddled it a little but my dad told me off because we're due to get another kitten next week. What should i do? Should i take the collar off? We cant tell if it my friends cat because its not microchipped but what if it is? The cats outside right now curled up waiting to come in!! If it had a proper home would it still do this?
