Young Kitten help?

Hi my cat had kittens 2 weeks ago and they are all doing find. I will be getting her fixed so please dont comment about how i should get her fixed and none of this should have happened etc. I was reading on the internet that there is some care needed for kittens. But I was told that the mother does everything. Is there anything that I need to do to help the kittens get ready for there new homes i.e litter train weaning?

At age 2 weeks, let mom do all the work. Just provide a warm, quiet clean place for them. Visit several times a day and hold each kitten so they can get used to humans. Check their eyes to see that they are clear as kittens easily get eye infections.

Help mom with weaning at about age 4 weeks. Offer them the same wet kitten food that mom is eating. Wipe a little in the roofs of their mouths and let them lick the food off your finger.

Provide a litter box in their room with a non clumping litter (Worlds Best litter is clumping, but it is made from corn so when the kittens decide to dine on it it won't hurt them)

Increase the amount of time you spend with them weekly. By the age of 5 weeks, take them away from mom for a few hours a day and let them hear the TV, phones, doorbells, washers, etc. If you have nice friends, let them interact with the kittens so they get used to people.

    Good luck

(Right now one of my 5 week old foster kittens is helping me type)

The main thing is to play with them and handle them so they are used to being around humans. Then just make sure they are healthy and don't have fleas.

It can be extremely difficult to find homes for kittens. That is why the shelters are so full of unwanted kittens. So you need to start right away on getting responsible people ready to take these kittens. Make sure the people understand that they will have to pay for vaccinations and spaying costs for the kittens and are willing to do everything needed of a good responsible pet owner.

Shelters will often adopt out kittens that are already spayed/neutered and vaccinated. The adoption fees they charge are only a fraction of the cost. This is why a lot of people prefer to adopt shelter kittens.

The mother will teach them how to cat for the next two months, so the best thing you can do is keep them with their mother as long as she will tolerate them. This makes for healthy, well-adjusted kittens that will be better in their new homes.

Once you notice the mother leaving the kittens alone for longer periods of time (normally from 7-10 weeks), this is when you would step in and start trying to feed them kitten food and help them in their litter box, but again, most mommies will teach the litter box aspect or at least let YOU step in and help. It really depends on the queen that you have.

Start playing with them yourself and getting them used to normal loud noises in the house and petting them and playing with them.

You can play with them and give them exercise. You want to use a toy for them to chase and attack do not use you hands. If you only use your hands to pet and carry them they will only see your hands as a good thing. Have a litter box that they can get into easily.

Two weeks is still too young to do anything except handle them for a few minutes so they get use to it.

They will play with each other and run each other down so don't be alarmed. Then they get older they will charge and then jump over instead of tackle.
