Stopping early cat pregnany?

Hi, I got my 6 month old cat spayed yesterday and everything is going fine however i was wondering something. People always say dont get your cat pregnant to young and i now cats can get pregnant at 4 months. How would you prevent this from happening. I know some people thats cats have gotten pregnant at 1 years old. How come she never got pregnant before. Is there a way to let her outside but still get her pregnant when she is older. I was just wondering.

She has to be in heat (period) to mate, but still cat's reproduce like crazy, so if she's outside she can find a male, and if she is in heat she will get pregnant. MAYBE if you kept her inside when she's in heat, you could keep her from getting preggers until later, but I wouldn't mess with that. You could be wrong about when she's fertile or not and this world really doesn't need any more cats. Enough are dying in the shelters already. :(
