Why would someone WANT to be diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder?

If you know you have Bipolar disorder (as I know I do), why would you WANT to be diagnosed? I understand the need to feel better, but times are hard. I don't have the money for therapy, and I don't want to be experimenting with different kinds of medication all my life. Someone told me its extremely hard to get insurance. Why would anyone want that for themselves? I'm happier undiagnosed and not having to worry about all that.

The answer is in the question. I have bipolar disorder, aka manic depression. You are up feeling awesome, full of energy. Then you crash. For me it comes on every other month or so. It is hard to deal with without medication.

They may not Want to be diagnosed with BPD but they need to know why they feel the way they do. The person needs support and if they are up and down like I am, then please get them help

If you don't want to be diagnosed and you haven't been diagnosed then you are not Bipolar. ONLY a psychiatrist can diagnose Bipolar. You can NOT call yourself Bipolar just because you think you have it..... If you are happier this way then you definitely are NOT Bipolar as we would do anything to feel more normal. You are nothing more that a twerpy little teenager self diagnosing.... bet you are a cutter (or rather a scratcher) too......
