I am a Mormon widow. I have recently begun seeing a Jehovah's witness..?

I don't know that you need to feel bad about it, from the Mormon perspective I don't see an issue with it that should stop you from what fulfills you.

I do not know what Mormons teach about dating out side your faith but we as Jehovah's Witnesses believe that we only date TO marry and we only marry fellow Jehovah's Witnesses. So this person is probably not a JW or they are inactive.

What's the question?

I can't even imagine a relationship between an active Mormon and an active JW. While you are making sacred covenants in the temple, he will be handing out Watchtower magazines to your neighbors. What kind of religious conversations will you have?

Well, there's a winning combination if ever there was one.

I'm not surprised your church is "astoundingly negative" about you seeing a Jehovah's Witness and his sisters disapproval. About the only thing Jehovah's Witnesses and Latter-day Saints have in common is they both believe they have restored the true faith and they both go from house to house proselytising.

Just bear in mind that your Jehovah's Witness male friend will feel obliged to convert you to his way of thinking, so be prepared for some heavy-duty Bible studies, going to all the meetings and going from house to house with the Watchtower and Awake magazines.

Is he worth it?

You will both be unevenly yoked.

I think Mormons do a lot of dating outside of their religion but JWs generally don't. He must not be a very spiritually strong JW.
