With music festivals becoming more and more popular, is there a chance that jam bands will ever become mainstream?

I've noticed music festivals increasing and some of the older ones becoming more gigantic, such as Summer Camp, Wakarusa, and All Good.

I go to much of them myself and noticed that they get bigger and bigger each year.

Will jam bands ever take over the rock and roll scene? If not, then I'd hope so because rock music is in the gutter these days.

Update:

Heck, I might even start my own music festival with my best friend Wayne. We've been thinking of naming it "Waynestock" and have it take place in my hometown of Aurora, Illinois. Who should I book? I'm thinking of Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, and Van Halen

Funny I thought they'd peaked in the 90s.

The chief strength of jam bands is that they know how to build an audience and to tour.

They'll never really be mainstream, unless they actually convert the average music listener to attend more shows by new acts. The average person going to see a concert, tends to want to see someone who has a proven following. It is as if they're checking off boxes for living classic rockers. They get angry over new music being played.

seems to be the opposite that is happening. jam bands are getting less mainstream and fewer and fewer are included in the festivals that they built into successes in the first place.

i think you should book this band called crucial taunt. i hear the bass player is a babe.
