2003 Dodge Stratus what is the thumping noise after the heater has run for a while?

Update:

There is an odd thumping noise like metal moaning against metal. I added coolant which was low. It still is noisy, on the driver's side. Occurs after 10 minutes of heat. A/C does not work any more. Fan works. Plenty of heat comes out. But the thumping starts, and stops a few seconds after I turn the heat off. It is NOT whiny like bearings. I got electronics testing, nothing shows, but mechanic did not run the heater. I feel vibration on my foot via accelerator.

Update 2:

This is a 2-door, coupe. Sounds more like the noise is coming from in front of the driver than the passenger side.

    Testing conditions. Noise stops when I move settings OFF the window vent. It seems to be fine through the car vents and floor board.
