If god is limited in his power to only do things that are logically possible...?
... Doesn't that implicitly concede that the universe is, in and of itself, logically possible, thus meaning god isn't needed for the universe to exist? After all, if it weren't logically possible for the universe to exist, then, by this very limitation, God would not be able to make it so. Thus, by the logic of most apologists, the universe and every event in it could occur without a god, making the idea of a god completely unnecessary.

Where is your logic? The universe can exist logically, but it cannot logically come into existence. Matter and energy do not spontaneously come into existence. The universe is temporary. Time is a dimension of the universe. There can be no explanation of the universe coming into existence without some permanent framework into which it could exist.
God is what exists permanently and unconditionally. There is no absolute proof that God created the universe, but it certainly seems the only logical explanation.
It has taken humans many hundreds of thousands of years to get some scientific insight into some of the processes taking place in the first few moments of the universe. That doesn't mean we made it. The existence of God does not rely on there being unanswered questions and God doesn't cease to exist every time we find an alternative answer to something.

Nothing is impossible with God. The physical universe is inside of God's universe.

"If" questions have little basis when based only on one's own idea. In this case I would argue that the one true God is not remotely limited, certainly not by any man's idea of what constitutes "logic". I would also disagree that limited temporal ideas of logic fall far beneath an appropriate degree to rightly judge or understand boundless eternal things in much the same way a worm would have any right, authority or thorough knowledge to rightly judge the decisions made at NASA.
Of course you have every right to entertain the exercise, but if one is educated at all they must also understand that ANY idea they accept on the notion requires an equal amount of faith on which it is based.

A flawed argument is that god can only make things logically possible.
It is not really flawed, but directly contradictory. I hope theists don't use this anymore, because its degrading.
Such would mean that as soon as science finds a cause for the universe the god ideology ceases to exist.

Most scientists in the field of physics chemistry and biology are agnostic because the notice an intelligent design in how our universe works. DNA is proof of design. They have agreed believing in a Creator is relatively REASONABLE. Einstein was agnostic. To me it makes logically more sense for someone to build a plane then for a tornado to randomly throw a plane together. Same with the universe. It makes more sense someone put it together then it is for it to explode chaotically and somehow out of almost none existent luck to be a life sustainable universe.
