How many sand bags do i need in the back of my 06 dodge ram quad cab to get traction in winter.?
Just purchased this in the spring 2006 dodge ram 1500 quad cab 4wd, and have been reading forums but not sure still. Right now i bought 5 tubes 70lb of sand so 350lbs, some say more some say well they just don't know, i would like to know if this is good or not. I live in the country so roads get pretty crappy so does driveway, and wouldn't mind helping someone that might need pulled out of a snow bank and such. Thanks for any help

Personally I fill the box of my truck with 5-7 large water softener salt bags rather then sand.. Because water softener salt is actually useful and won't just sit in the shed/garage in the summer months and take up space.
Added weight is useful when on the highway to give some extra traction rather then wearing out your 4 wheel drive system at highway speeds!

350 lbs of sand in the back may cause more problems than it helps , it will make a skid harder to control , off road you may just dig yourself in deeper,, if you have a diff lock use that
