Harry Potter questions?

Why didn't the Dursleys kill Harry if they hated him?

What would happen if the Dursleys did kill Harry?

Update:

I mean, what would Dumbledore do if the Dursleys did kill Harry?

Regardless of Petunia's flaws, she may have seen Harry as her sister's son and may have seen him as the last remaining part of Lily, even if she never showed him love.

If they did kill him, Hogwarts may have been alerted that they didn't need to send him a letter (if pre-Hogwarts). They didn't seem to keep a watch on Harry. If they has killed Harry, they may have received a trial from both the muggle and wizarding court systems. Since Harry is their hero, they may receive harsh punishments for the wizarding world. Since Harry is only a child, they would have received a harsh punishment from the muggle world.

The Dursleys weren't psychopaths they're still human and Harry is still family. Dumbledore would probably send a howler and then take care of them and they'd disappear off the face of the earth and nobody would know what happened except Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. Aunt Petunia made a promise to protect her nephew.

As horrible as they are, they aren't psychos. This is the son of Aunt Dursley's secretly beloved sister. if the did kill Harry, I feel like Petunia would fall into some kind of depression or get angry, because Harry seems to be her only immediate family alive. Harry also seems to be their outlet for their anger, I feel like Dudley would have a sad and horrible childhood with the **** parents that he already has. Looking back at it, your question is pretty screwed up.

“Mr. and Mrs. Dursley of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much. Except for murdering Mrs. Dursley's sister only child."

Not much of a story that way.

In the end didn't they come to at least respect Harry Potter a little more even if they never loved him they certainly didn't hate him.

because Petunia made a promise to Dumbledore that she would protect her nephew and if she didn't Dumbledore would know if she planned to kill Harry.

Adding to what Marie said, they aren't murderers.

they are not psychopaths. If they had killed harry, we would have killed J.K Rowling and tbh, i doubt that the harry potter books would have been a hit if that had happened.

Dumbledore would get them, maybe reveal the family secret, who knows what he might do
